Advanced Culinary Camp for Returning Campers

Welcome to our Kids Culinary Camps! Back for the 8th year, each camp runs Monday – Friday from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm as an afternoon session within our new cooking space at Bowers in Lower South End. This is the second year we are hosting an advanced culinary camp. Campers will need to have 2+ years of experience from previous Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen culinary camps. This camp session is led by Chef Alyssa.

On Friday afternoon – parents are invited to observe the end of class and enjoy lunch with their young chef.

Each child a camp gift (returning campers) and recipe book to take home. And please let us know about any allergies as soon as possible. Campers will be split into 4 groups of 4.

Pricing for each session is $450, which includes everything (including a daily snack). It’s best to sign-up early as our camps will sell out in advance. Tickets are non-refundable after April 30, 2022.

Notes: This camp is nut-free. We will work to accommodate any allergies and dietary restrictions if notice is provided by e-mailing when signing up and no later than June 20th. If the allergy cannot be accommodated based on the specific dish (example: dairy in the semifreddo) there will still be food provided for your child to enjoy.

Please list all allergen information when signing up.

Campers will be required to bring a Tupperware container daily for items they will be bringing home. We want to do our part to conserve!

Each day of the class will focus on a specific theme. This will include: 

Breads and Baking:

Ciabatta Bread … and then make them into panini sandwiches

Brioche Rolls

Summer Berry Tartlets

Focused Skills: making and shaping bread dough, working with yeast, making diplomat cream, baking tartlets

Rice Bowls:

Seared Salmon

Herb and Golden Raisin Steamed Rice

Corn Salad

Smoky Ancho Crema Sauce

Lemon Bars

Focused Skills: creating a composed dish, cooking fish, incorporating herbs and fresh ingredients, cooking rice, baking dessert bars

Spanish Tapas

Paella with chicken and chorizo

Fried Croquettes

Vanilla Cinnamon Flan

Focused Skills: building flavor, thickening sauces, making caramel, baking custard

Italian:

Ravioli

Traditional Basil Marinara Sauce

Honey Peach Semifreddo

Focused Skills: pasta making dough, filling and shaping, building flavor in a sauce, making semifreddo ice cream

Summer Tacos:

Handmade Flour Tortillas

Roasted Vegetable Salsa

Marinated Grilled Skirt Steak

Watermelon Sorbet

Focused Skills: advanced knife skills, making sorbet, stretching and shaping tortillas

COVID-19 related

-1 ticket is for 1 person

-Please note, just as in all CAK events each guest will be sharing equipment, tools, prep and ultimately the food they’ve made during the class with their table-mates. CAK staff members and other campers may be within 6 feet of campers at time.

-We do not know what COVID-19 will look like this summer. We will continue to follow CDC guidelines for school age children and teens. At this juncture, Face masks are required to be worn by all guests, campers and staff members during summer camp. However this is subject to change as guidance for children and teens adjusts.
