Event Description + Information to optional knife sharpening class (5pm) prior to the event
Knife skills lay the foundation for cooking. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned cook, this is a great class for everyone! Establishing great knife skills gives you an edge in the kitchen and provides ease when cooking.
Class begins with information about care, upkeep of the blade, handling and selecting the best chef knife for you. Throughout this class, chef Gloria will teach the proper use of the chef knife and you will learn to slice, dice, mince, chiffonade, segment and julienne.
You can take all of your prepped ingredients home! While we will not prepare a full meal in this class, but we will use some of the cut vegetables to make a potato hash with a fresh farm egg.
We are excited to debut our Chubo knives, hand forged in Japan. You will utilize these beautiful knives throughout class. And, if you are in the market, they are available for retail.
New this year: Want to learn to sharpen your knives? We have a new add-on. You can register to join us at 5:00 pm for a 45 minute knife sharpening class utilizing a whetstone. This will be held before our formal knife skills class. Feel free to bring a knife from home for this, but if not, one will be provided. Please note, signing up for knife sharpening must be accompanied by a knife skills class event ticket.

-BYOB or packaged snacks are not permitted at Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen. We have a great menu of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks along with snacks.
-If you are joining as a single ticket you will be sharing a table with 3 other guests for a table of 4. Please note, just as in all CAK events each guest will be sharing equipment, tools, prep and ultimately the food they’ve made during the class with their table-mates. If you’re registering with 3 guests in your party, you may be asked to be at different tables (though near each other)

Ticket Cancellation Policy:
For public events. If you cancel up to 7 days before the class date, you will receive a full ticketed refund for the amount of your event ticket. If you cancel 72 hours in advance, you will receive 50% of your event ticket amount back. We cannot refund you for cancellations made within 72 hours of an event.
When a cancellation occurs, we open the ticket(s) on our website and contact the waiting list. If the tickets are filled prior to the event you will receive a future event credit for each ticket filled. You may also transfer your ticket to a friend to use.
Note: Transferring to a new event is considered a cancellation for the event you’re ticketed.

The parking lot entrance is off Yancey Rd. Our building is located on the backside of the brewery (Brewers at Yancey), which is the opposite part of the building as their front door. There is additional street parking off Yancey and Southside Dr. There is a staircase entrance to Bowers parking from Southside Dr located behind Escape Tactic.
