Virtual Cooking Classes

During uncertain times, Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen has remained resourceful to putting together quality cooking content. From March through October 2020, Chef Alyssa hosted online cooking classes. Each class was one hour long covering a specific dish or skill start to finish. To view and purchase any of the previous 22 virtual classes CLICK HERE to view the list. $15 per class per household.

Each previously recorded class includes the recipe, info sheet and video from Chef Alyssa. Most events were designed with minimal ingredients and/or easy substitution. With a recorded class, you’ll have the ability to start and stop while cooking. This is a great way to connect with friends and family in other areas! 1 registration is for 1 device. If you’re watching separately with friends/family in other places they will need their own ticket. We also have 10 virtual classes made for kids (5 culinary, 5 baking), please CLICK HERE to view the Kids List.

Food and Wine Magazine named them one of their recommended virtual cooking classes in the United States. Charlotte Agenda named them as one of the best in Charlotte and the #1 quarantine approved activity in Charlotte.

Private Events: If you’d like information for a virtual private event cooking class, please click here to fill our request form.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO THE CLASSES WORK?

Each class is completely hands-on, interactive and a lot of fun. We bring all the kitchen supplies and ingredients you’ll need. You’ll be stationed at tables of four and will work with your table to produce the meal. If there are more than four people in your group, you may be split up. If you have in your group. E-mail us ahead of time!

WHAT ARE YOUR COVID-19 PROCEDURES?

All participants and guests are required to wear facemasks. Participating in a cooking class is a voluntary activity. For those with a condition preventing them from wearing a facemask, they will not be able to participate and be eligible to receive 2 virtual cooking classes in its place. They would not be able to redeem for any other service provided by Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen.

Our team always has high-cleaning practices, but we will recommend increased handwashing with no cooking utensil sharing. Guests are required to ‘bus’ their own dishes after finishing their meal.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN EACH CLASS?

Up to 24 guests attend each class, or six tables of four each. We can host larger groups for private events or team-building classes.

IS THERE A WAITING LIST FOR CLASSES THAT ARE FULL?

Yes. The waiting list is first come, first serve. If you’d like to be notified of any cancellations, please contact us. Please include the date and name of the class(es) you’re interested in.

WHAT IF I’VE NEVER COOKED BEFORE?

Sign up for our Beginner Class! We’ll go over the basics of the basics.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I COME WITH A FRIEND WHO IS NOT AS GOOD OF A COOK AS I AM?

Our recommendation would be to find a class level somewhere in between (we have five), but not too advanced. Since you’ll be working in a group, no one person will complete every part of the meal. The class environment designed to not be intimidating. Please be sure to stay within the cooking level that you are comfortable with.

DO I GET TO EAT WHAT I’VE MADE?

Of course! If you’d like to take anything extra home with you, please bring a reusable container with you. We try to be as green as possible!

CAN I TAKE HOME A COPY OF THE RECIPE?

Sure. We make that easy for you by providing nifty recipe books. You can even take notes as we go along.

CAN I BRING MY OWN BEER OR WINE TO THE CLASS?

Yes, you can. Only for public cooking class. All private and special events must purchase directly through us. We carry a great selection of wine and beer.

CAN I BRING MY SON OR DAUGHTER?

Only if they are above 21. We do offer weeklong Kids & Teens Culinary Camps in the summer and host hands-on cooking classes throughout the year for ages 7 to 18. Learn more about our programming for kids.

WHAT IF I SIGN UP FOR A CLASS BUT HAVE TO WORK LATE. CAN I CANCEL?

It depends when you let us know. Please refer to our cancellation and refund policies above.

DO YOU HAVE GIFT CARDS?

We do. We email certificates that can be presented as a gift.

DO YOU OFFER PRIVATE EVENTS?

Yes, we frequently host team-building, birthday parties and other gatherings. We can fit up to 24 in a regular private event. If you’re looking for a team-building idea, consider our Chopped Challenges. We also have a Tapas Tasting for groups up to 75 guests.

ARE YOU HIRING? CAN I GET A JOB WITH CHEF ALYSSA’S KITCHEN?

We are! We are always looking for hard-working, enthusiastic and reliable culinary assistants and line cooks. Most of our positions do require a culinary degree and 1+ years of professional experience. Please e-mail us your information for consideration.
